It Started With Frustration, Not a Business Plan
In 2021, we started farming under the name Vidhi Farms. No agricultural background. No family history of dairy. Just a deep, persistent frustration with what was available at the store — and a growing belief that our community deserved access to food that was honest from the ground up.
Guernsey cows were never the obvious choice. They're smaller than Holsteins. They produce less volume. They're registered heritage animals — which means they require more careful management and cost more to keep properly. We chose them anyway, because the milk they produce — naturally golden, naturally A2A2, naturally richer in the nutrients that make dairy worth drinking — is in a different category from anything you'll find in a commercial refrigerator.
We learned the rhythms of the land by doing the work. Early mornings. Long days. The quiet satisfaction of a healthy milking and the weight of a cow who wasn't thriving and needed more from you. We made mistakes. We fixed them. We got better.
When the Farm Came Available, We Said Yes
When the opportunity to take over this farm in Wingate came, we stepped in — not because we were ready, but because we believed in what it could become. We kept every responsible practice already in place. And then we went further.
Certified organic grain — not just natural, actually certified. Zero soy — completely removed from the feed programme, because soy is one of the most pesticide-heavy and industrially processed crops in agriculture and it has no place in the diet of a cow producing food for your family. Year-round pasture access — not seasonal, not weather-permitting, always. Glass bottles. BPA-free caps. Expanded vet testing schedules. Results published, not summarised.
None of this was a marketing strategy. It was just what the right answer looked like, once we were actually responsible for these animals.
Where We Are Today
VenAya Farms is now the only dedicated source of fresh, raw, Golden Guernsey A2A2 milk serving the Charlotte metro area — with pickup locations in South Charlotte, Harrisburg, Monroe, and at the farm in Wingate, with Uptown Charlotte and Ballantyne coming soon.
Our herd share families come from all backgrounds. Parents trying to find something their kids can digest. Athletes who want a protein source without industrial processing. People who've spent years avoiding dairy and are trying this for the first time, on a recommendation from someone they trust. Foodies who just want the best milk available, full stop.
We are proud to be the farm they found. And we are deeply aware that we have to earn that trust every single morning — in the pasture, at the milking stand, and in every glass jar that leaves this farm.

Family owned gets said a lot. Here's what it means at VenAya Farms: there's no board of directors, no shareholder return targets, and no pressure to cut feed costs to improve margin. When we chose organic, soy-free grain at roughly 80% of our total maintenance budget, there was no one to approve it — and no one to talk us out of it. It was just the right call.
It means when something goes wrong — a cow is off, a batch is pulled, a pickup is delayed — you hear it from us. Directly. Immediately. Not from an automated email. The person who answers your text is the same person who was in the pasture at 5am.
It means the farm's reputation is our personal reputation. We live near these animals, near this land, and near this community. That's not a tagline. That's the actual situation.
